Emerica’s Wild in the Streets

Lake Forest , CA - On June 21, 2006 , three thousand skateboarders took over the streets of Chicago in celebration of Go Skateboarding Day. Emerica, with the support of the Chicago Skateboarding Organization, brought together skateboarders from all over the country to have fun skateboarding and to support the local skate scene in Chicago.

The six-mile long route from Buckingham Fountain to Wilson Skatepark was filled with skateboarders as far as the eye could see. Local residents and shop owners ripped out their camera phones as fast as they could to capture a glimpse of the enormous swarm of skateboarders. The massive crew gathered at Oak Street Beach along the way for a huge skate session with the Emerica team and Chicago locals killing it. From there, the pack headed down the “Skateboard Path” along Lake Shore Drive towards Wilson, with big smiles on everyone’s faces all around. The journey was topped off with a huge barbeque party at the skatepark, where everyone was stoked to have a rest, drink some water and stuff their hungry bellies with plenty of hot dogs and burgers.

Not one to disappoint with surprises, Emerica invited their newest team playa, the Bishop Don “Magic” Juan, to the blowout barbeque to give the frenzy of skateboarders words of wisdom and to preach the words of Chuuuch!
